MY TEACHING STYLE & PHILOSOPHY

‘Longevity is about maintaining the voice. Sing repertoire which is within the realm of what’s appropriate for your voice type and temperament, accounting for issues of drama, tessitura and volume of the orchestration. Emotional health and stamina are equally important’.

Renee Fleming -International soprano

I believe you cannot be too careful with the voices of singers, especially those with young developing voices.

Whilst I was singing professionally, colleagues often asked me for vocal advice. I now have over forty years’ experience as a singing teacher and vocal adviser teaching across all age ranges, abilities and genres.

Irrespective of age, no two voices are the same. Although many overlying principles of singing are similar, I work to ensure that the singer maximizes their vocal range and unique timbre. I work with students identifying repertoire matching their voice type, individuality and resilience whilst always considering their vocal well-being.

I primarily teach a smooth cantabile style of singing. As a member of the British Voice Association I access and often incorporate up-to-date research in vocal technique and aspects of all vocal health in my teaching methodology.
